The past few years have taken me all over the world - places such as Norway, Iceland, the Yukon Territory, Alaska, and Finland all span the list. However, very few places have quite the hold on me that Maine does. The working ports, rugged coastline, and most importantly, the people, all resonate deeply with me. Maybe there’s just something about it that feels like home.

As I’ve searched for a tangible way to answer the question “Why Maine?”, the concept of Please Head North almost immediately began to take shape. I wanted to bring the feeling of being on the road in these far off places back with me to Maine, diving headfirst into the landscape, maritime history, and largely untold stories.

Alongside my dog Denali, I’ll be spending 10 days in a Land Rover Defender driving the entire coast in an effort to capture the fall season in Maine from an entirely new perspective.

The goal behind Please Head North is simple: to create something lasting and from the heart.

This project wouldn’t be the same without working closely with the people and companies that call Maine home. In an effort to produce something truly special, all aspects of this project are being produced within Maine. From the publisher we use to the brands who have helped back it, this book will be produced collectively by the hands of the people I intended to write it for.
